REVITALIZATION OF THE COMMUNITY HOUSE AND PRIMARY SCHOOL HUMPOLEC

2024

1st PLACE

The connection of educational and cultural institutions is the basis of a developed society. The coexistence of these worlds inspires, motivates and complements each other. Both worlds are interdependent and significantly influence each other. If civic amenities are in a harmonious symbiosis, they generate the potential for renewal of the old and the new. We perceive culture and education as a common entity, without which there is no path to self-knowledge and development. The cultural and educational center creates conditions for - school through play; healthy body, healthy mind; rich is a person who knows a lot, etc. The motto of mutual connectivity flows through the entire concept like a falcon ribbon that encircles houses with public spaces. It emphasizes transparency and the removal of material and spiritual barriers. The purpose is not to create chaos from the proposed operations, but to try to connect public and institutional space, even if it is only a visual contact. The goal is to remove stereotypical prejudices, segregation of socio-social or age groups and to create conditions for common coexistence.

MEMORIAL PLACE WITH A PARK AND GATHERING SPACE - LIPNO NAD VLTAVOU

2024

The treated area is crossed by three roads (axis of life and death, paved paved road, unpaved paved road). They are complemented by three meeting "oases" (gathering area, children's playground, relaxation area with an outdoor gym) and a liturgical chapel stand with a place of remembrance. Each of these places has its specific position important for human being (health, entertainment, community, spirituality), creating a network of stops on the way of life. Everything takes place on the distinctive morphology of the sloping land in the village of Lipna nad Vltavou, which is surrounded by a coniferous grove (spruce, pine) in the lower part. The location of new features is carefully selected near existing pedestrian corridors, which we preserve and restore. In the upper part of the territory, in the center of the action of the original development, we are placing a gathering space - a multi-purpose square - according to the specification.

MIXED-USE BUILDING - BUČOVICE

2024

2nd PLACE

Due to the reduction of the dominant scale of the street and the square, the volume of the building was divided into three units, connected by necks. The number of floors increases towards the square, thereby achieving maximum yield while maintaining the height level of the surrounding buildings. The corner is emphasized by the local addition of the volume of the third floor, which responds to the dominant corner on the opposite side of the square. In the gorges there are corridors and vertical communication in the form of a direct staircase and an elevator. The ground floor has the largest glass areas, there are commercial spaces with facilities, the technical facilities of the house, a room for waste, cubicles for apartments and parking areas with two-story stackers. It is possible to enter commerce from the square, Slavkovská Street and from the communication cores. The eastern core is illuminated through a skylight along the entire height of the house. One of the cores is accessible to the courtyard with a garden and a ramp for people with limited mobility or parents with strollers.

RESTORATION OF THE CHURCH OF ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST AND ENVIRONMENT DEVELOPMENT - HAJNICE

2021

The basic idea is the multi-purpose use of the interior and exterior of the church. Building modifications provide places for publicly accessible cultural and social events throughout the area: concerts, singing and theater performances, exhibitions, lectures, workshops, talks, holding secular and church ceremonies. The basic slogans are openness, playfulness and variability, assuming maximum use of the church and the adjacent cemetery, but with respect for the cultural monument, historical context and piety of the place. The urban solution is based on a new way of using the church, the cemetery area and the surrounding area. Due to the lack of barrier-free access to the building, a second entrance through the sacristy is proposed, to which a paved circular path from the local road leads. The architectural solution is primarily based on respect for the historical monument, its regional importance and the need to preserve, refurbish or replace the most valuable elements with new ones. The preservation of the architecture of the main Gothic volume and the tower from the 18th century is very important.

MALOSTRANSKÉ SQUARE IN PRAGUE

2014

The basic idea is a new functional zoning of the square in relation to the main communication and visual axes, orientation to near and far landmarks and morphology of the terrain. Zones delimited by new characteristic outdoor furniture or greenery are; assembly (amphitheater), shopping (market), catering (restaurant), relaxation and transport. The main pedestrian corridor across the square leads in the place of the original so-called Royal Route around the Church of St. Nicholas. The side pedestrian corridor leads through the existing car park in the foyer of the former Jesuit dormitory.

Designed one level of the square, calming of traffic in the movement from the original paving blocks and without curb, relocation of traffic at rest outside the square to the courtyards, uniform paving surface in the pedestrian zone, revitalization of space with existing or new landmarks, navigation elements in the paving, new functional zoning in the form of restaurants, amphitheater, market, transport hub and relaxation will allow more user-friendly conditions and full use of the public space of the square.

PRAGUE PORT 18600

2014

Proportionally, the building is based on the dimensions of a common park bench. Its shape should evoke a prefabricated fitting, a display case, or a small sailboat characteristic of Port 18600. Functionally, the building allows comfortable seating for two people and a transparent storage space. In the case of books, the building becomes a kind of freely accessible bookcase and every visitor to the port has the opportunity not only to sit, put things away, but also to read a book, borrow, take, or bring their own in the case of the next visit. The individual objects can be arranged in regular or irregular clusters, next to each other, one behind the other, or independently and independently of each other without limiting the function.

BRIDGE OVER THE LABE IN HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ

2014

The footbridge completes the communication axis between the two banks. It connects to existing pedestrian roads and bicycle paths. It connects the surrounding streets with a raised bridgehead with gentle asphalt ramps and an arched steel frame structure. It is integrated into the area of the city promenade by its subtle construction, air volume and minimal interference with the surrounding terrain and adjacent line greenery. By optimizing the number and size of individual steel elements, it allows open views of the surroundings and at the same time does not visually divide the surroundings of the river Elbe. The aim was to maintain the most direct functional connection between the two banks, but to avoid any interference with the surrounding greenery and thus disrupt the existing tree alleys, even at the cost of an eccentric location on the axis of Collinova Street. The location of the structure allows for seamless viewing conditions at the intersections of pedestrian and bicycle traffic on both banks of the river. The clear width of the footbridge with railings is 4.5 m. Load-bearing steel the structure consists of a Vierendeel arch with a span 67.7m and a width 5.2m.

OSTRAVA ČERNÁ LOUKA

2010

The main goal was to solve the complicated traffic situation in  close to the historic center and reclamation of the area. The basic outline of the design consists of a partial diversion of traffic through an underground tunnel, a new communication axis leading to the area, the abolition of a multi-purpose intersection, the thickening of existing buildings, new sets of buildings and the possibility of city expansion.

EMBASSY OF THE CZECH REPUBLIC IN WASHINGTON

2009

The three main volumes terraced the morphology of the terrain and maintains the compactness of the whole building. Architecturally and operationally, they are divided into three parts, among which are the atriums. The building is located on imaginary axes that lead to the entrances and  residence of the ambassador. The main communication axis passes through the building itself, which connects the residential, official and embassy parts. The layering of functions was subject to the security aspect, the logic of operation and movement around the land.
